Add Living Projects

Copy the address, then follow three short steps in Gemini.

Do this at gemini.google.com in your browser, on a computer. Once it’s added, Living Projects works in the Gemini phone app too.

Step 2 of 3

Connect your storage

Gemini doesn't connect to OneDrive directly.

Through Living Projects, it can save and read your project's notes and decisions there. What it can access →

How many storages will you use?

Choose it, click Allow, then Done.

Where do you keep your files? Dropbox Google Drive OneDrive
a · Choose your main storage
Dropbox Allow Living Projects to access your Dropbox.
CancelAllow
b · Your storage asks: click Allow
Connected: ✓ Dropbox Keep projects in another storage too? Add it now. Add Google Drive Add Microsoft OneDrive Done — back to your AI
c · Click Done

In Google Drive, Living Projects reads only the folders it creates, and keeps your notes and decisions there. Your other files stay where they are, and Gemini reads them through its own Google Drive connection.

That's it. Living Projects stays connected; you don't add it again.

Step 3 of 3

Your first note

Open a new chat in Gemini. First, the one Gemini habit.

Start each chat with @Living Projects

Type @, then pick Living Projects from the list. Once is enough: Gemini keeps it for the rest of the chat. Without it, Gemini may look in your Google Drive or Gmail instead. If Gemini later says it doesn't know Living Projects, say your request again, starting with @Living Projects.

Expect a card before each save. Click Allow.Expect to wait a little. Creating or opening a project can take a minute or more.

Make a home for your project

Once, when a project begins. Use your own project's name.

“Create a home” creates a project folder in your storage, with the files and subfolders Living Projects needs to work. All the information about your project is stored here.
Living Projects needs them to work properly:· the Living Projects folder· HOME.md· the folder ending in RECORD· each notes folder: Claude Notes, GPT Notes, Gemini Notes· Parking Lot· plugin

Save as you go

A thought, a plan, a date, a next step. Gemini shows a card; click Allow. The note is saved in Gemini Notes. When the exact wording matters, ask it to save your exact words.

Gemini walks you through every step: it tells you what it's about to do, asks for your permission, and shows you the result before moving on.

Continue in a new chat

The next day, and every day after. You don't explain the project again.

Your AI uses the Living Projects plugin to read the saved information in your project's home. It can then tell you where the project stands and help you continue.

Not there? Open a new chat and start with @Living Projects.

@Living Projects we're working in TRIP TO EUROPE home — where were we?
Hotel is booked for the 12th to the 16th. Next: the train from Paris to Lyon.
You're set. Next: facts, decisions, ideas for later, and organizing.
How to use it →

Good to know

Open one when you need it.

If something's off

Keep activity on for Living Projects to be found. Custom apps like Living Projects don't work in Gemini when it's off. Gemini asks about it when you first set it up; to check or change it later, go to Settings → Activity.

Look: More → Customize → Connectors. If it's connected, Living Projects is under Active.Or ask Gemini: it checks your connected storage and lists your projects, including ones made with another AI. No projects yet? The list is empty.@Living Projects which projects do I have?

Gemini can read your project without asking for permission. Before Living Projects saves anything or makes changes, Gemini shows a permission card and waits for you to click Allow. It can take a while sometimes; the card comes when it's ready.

Gemini explains each step and asks before going ahead. When it saves a note, it shows where it's saved; the note's text isn't always shown. Claude and ChatGPT do the same work more quietly. To see what was saved, ask “what did you save?”, or open the notes folder in your storage.

Later

To add another storage service, ask in a Gemini chat: “Connect Google Drive using Living Projects.” Use the name of the service you want to add. Open the link Gemini provides, then select Allow. In our testing, two storage services worked well together. Google Drive was a little slower than Dropbox. With all three connected, Gemini got lost. Gemini doesn't connect to OneDrive on its own, but Living Projects can still keep your project's notes and decisions there.

When a new version of Living Projects is available, Gemini lets you know in the chat. To update, go to More → Customize → Connectors → Living Projects. Select Disconnect, then Connect again. Open a fresh chat to continue.
Pause: More → Customize → Connectors → Living Projects → Disconnect. It stays off until you connect it again.Remove: More → Customize → Connectors → Living Projects → ··· → Delete.Your project files stay in your storage as plain files. You can connect again later and keep working.

If your time zone changes, ask in a chat: “Connect Dropbox using Living Projects,” using the name of your storage service. Open the link and approve the connection again. This updates the time zone used to date your notes.

Gemini saves into its own folder in the project, and every note starts with its date: Saved 2026-09-29 · Gemini. If Gemini asks for a name for its notes folder, it's Gemini Notes, exactly as given.

If your settings look different, check Gemini's current setup instructions.
